Wednesday night we kicked off our annual Missions conference with Dr. John Halsey, the International Representative for BIMI (Baptist International Missions) and we have had two nights of great preaching from the Word of God. I’ll paraphrase what we’ve been blessed with so far.
Wednesday he preached on Jeremiah 8:22. Is there a balm in Gilead? Yes, God is the balm and the Holy Spirit is the physician. However, Romans 10:14 says:
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher
It is our job to take Jesus (the Word of God) to the lost and dying of the world, starting with family and friends, moving on to our neighbors and community and out from there. That is our ‘Great Commission.’
Acts 1:8, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Last night, Dr. Halsey preached on Mark 14 and the woman with the alabaster box of ointment and particularly verse 8 where it says; “she hath done what she could.” He urged each of us to do what we can which is all God asks of us. The messages so far have been a real blessing and I’m looking forward to tonight’s message.
